All guitars are subject to some movement in the neck due to different weather and humidity conditions. Unlike purchasing a guitar from a guitar store where those guitars typically hang on a wall for 2-3 months and have had a chance to acclimatize, your Fretlight must go from our warm warehouse, to a cold shipping truck, to their warm warehouse, to another cold shipping truck or airplane, etc, etc.
Your Fretlight is fully adjustable and it may only need to acclimatize to its new home or be given a couple of turns on the truss rod to make it play great. Here's how to adjust the two-way truss rod:
First, sight down the neck from the bridge to the nut. Notice the curvature of the fretboard (look along the side of the neck).
If the fretboard appears to be flat or bowing down (back bow), turn the truss rod counter-clockwise in order to relieve a back-bow condition.
If the fretboard appreasr to be curing upward too much (forward bow), turn the truss rod clockwise to bring it back to a more flat condition.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When turning the truss rod from one bow condition to the other, you will experience a few turns where it feels like the truss rod is not doing anything and is simply loose or spinning - DON'T WORRY - This is normal as the nut on the truss rod starts to grip in the other direction. Keep turning.
IDEALLY YOU WANT A SLIGHT CURVE UPWARD AS YOU SIGHT FROM THE BRIDGE TO THE NUT.
