bridge
The bridge is the metal device located on the guitar body where the strings are strung through. The bridge works in conjunction with the nut to ensure proper and even string height across the fretboard.
footswitch
A Fretlight System Accessory - allowing hands-free operation of software, allowing you to keep playing the guitar while using Fretlight Ready Software.
Fretlight Cable
The Fretlight Cable both powers and controls the Fretlight Guitar's LEDs. It is an 8-pin to USB cable that transmits Optek's proprietary language from the computer to the Fretlight Guitar.
Guitar Setup
A professional guitar setup is recommended when the seasons change dramatically (spring/fall). A setup includes proper adjustment of the nut, bridge, saddles, neck, and frets. Most guitar stores have a professional luthier on staff that can perform this operation. Optek also offers a custom setup at the time of purchase.
LED
Solid-State Electronics do not operate like conventional light bulbs. They require less power and have a near-infinate life-span.
nut
The nut is the clear plastic piece that is located at the top of the Fretlight neck. There are 6 grooves where the strings run across. The nut and the bridge work together to keep the strings evenly parallel over the frets of the neck. The nut also ensures proper string spacing (distance of the strings from each other).
Truss Rod
A long metal bar that runs the length of the neck inside the wood. A 2-way truss rod can correct for a neck being either bowed or back-bowed. Adjustment is made through the hole in the top of the neck, behind the nut.
