What is easier to start learning on, an electric or an acoustic guitar?

There is really NO difference for a beginner using either an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar to learn. In fact, an electric is actually easier because the strings are a lighter gauge (since they don’t have to be as beefy to ring loudly like on an acoustic – they get amplified by an external amplifier). The only caveat is that it is nice to have an amplifier which is an extra cost, though you can play an electric without being connected to one. Many people who are beginners and seasoned pro's practice without being connected to an amp every day.
